Keep Your System Running Strong

A simple checklist of DIY tasks and seasonal adjustments — plus what to leave to a certified ArcticPro technician.

Monthly & Quarterly DIY Maintenance

  • Replace air filters: Swap out 1-inch filters every 30 to 90 days to prevent restricted airflow and freezing coils.

  • Clear outdoor debris: Remove leaves, twigs, and grass clippings from your exterior condenser unit to prevent overheating.

  • Maintain landscaping clearance: Trim shrubs and weeds to keep at least 18 to 24 inches of open space around the outdoor unit.

  • Keep indoor vents clear: Ensure furniture, rugs, and drapes do not block supply or return registers.

  • Unblock all registers: Do not close vents in unused rooms, as this disrupts balanced system pressure and strains the blower.

  • Inspect the condensate line: Look for standing water or leaks in the drain pan to ensure moisture is draining properly.

  • Flush the drain line: Pour a cup of vinegar or a diluted bleach solution down the AC drain line to prevent algae clogs.
